Antipsychotic extrapyramidal side-effects

May be seen with antipsychotic use (particularly typicals) and are due to blockage of D2 receptors in the mesolimbic dopamine pathway.

TAAP

  • Tradive dyskinesia – involuntary rhythmic movements
  • Acute dystonia (e.g. oculogyric crisis)
  • Akathisia (motor restlessness)
  • Parkinsonism
